Benton Police Department officers responded to multiple disturbances at Chapel Ridge Apartments Monday, including a shooting shortly after 7:30 p.m. that resulted in a 13-year-old female victim with a single gunshot wound to the leg. She remains under medical care but is considered stable.

The Benton Police Department recently conducted a week of department-wide firearms training in a continued effort to maintain and hone firearms proficiency. Skills practiced during the intensive course are paramount for response to active intruders. It also served as preparation for the multi-agency active shooter course that will take place at local schools this summer.

The area of West Sevier Street from Market Street to Ashby Street in downtown Benton will be closed from 3-9 p.m. Saturday, March 12 for the Wild Game Dinner at First United Methodist Church.

Benton Police Department officers responded to Chapel Ridge Apartments around 11:30 a.m. Saturday in reference to an unresponsive juvenile. Upon arrival, officers discovered a three-year-old unresponsive male. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

 An investigation is underway following the discovery of two deceased individualsat a Benton residence on the evening of New Year’s Day. Benton Police Department officers responded to the 800 block of PearlStreet around 5:40 p.m. Saturday in reference to a welfare concern. Upon arrival, officers found 26-year-old Brook Nix and 29-year-old Michael Patton deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
