The Benton Police Department is continuing its traffic initiative focus for March with an emphasis on alcohol and drug impaired driving.

On 2/27/14, detectives with the Benton Police Department took a report of a possible rape involving a female juvenile victim.  During the investigation, evidence indicated that a rape had taken place and that there was possibly another juvenile victim involved.

On 2/26/14, at approximately 8:20 PM, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to an accident call on the I-30 North Service Road near Sharon Road.  Upon their arrival it was determined it was a roll-over accident with injury and the driver was transported to the hospital.

On 2/25/14, at approximately 10:24 PM, patrol officers with the Benton Police Department were conducting foot patrols at Dogwood Lakes Apartments due to recent criminal activity in the area.

The Benton Police Department recently held a DWI sobriety checkpoint on 2/21/14 in various locations throughout the city. The checkpoint was conducted to find intoxicated drivers and get them off the roadways. This is part of the traffic enforcement and education initiative the department is currently conducting.

On the morning of 2/20/14, officers with the Benton Police Department working in conjunction with the Benton School District held a training session on responses to emergency situations.
