Call About Vehicle Break-Ins Turns Into Simultaneous Vehicle and Foot Pursuit
On 1/7/13, at approximately 4:15 AM, officers responded to Dogwood Lake Apartments (1907 Hwy 5 North) on report of three individuals breaking into vehicles in the parking lot. Upon their arrival, one of the suspect fled from the scene in a vehicle and the other two fled on foot.
On 1/1/14, at approximately 7:58 PM, officers were dispatched to Wal-Mart (17309 I-30) on report of a fraud report. Prior to officer’s arrival, they were informed the suspect had left the store and was in the parking lot.
Officers with the Benton Special Investigation Unit recently conducted undercover compliance checks of restaurants that serve alcohol in Benton. These checks were done to ensure that these establishments are not serving alcohol to minors.
On 12/17/13, at approximately 2:50 AM, officers took a report of a residential burglary that took place on Hobbs Road. Upon their arrival, they were informed by the victim that somebody had possibly broken into his home while he was sleeping and that his child had been kidnapped during the incident.
On 12/16/13, at approximately 9:30 AM, officers responded to E. Walnut Street on report of a suspect who just ran from an unoccupied home. Upon their arrival officers located a suspect running from the home near the railroad tracks in the area.
